A Academia Britânica de Artes Cinematográficas e Televisivas (BAFTA) divulgou, nesta quarta-feira (12/1), a lista dos pré-indicados ao prémio, que concorrem na primeira rodada de votações. São, ao todo, 24 categorias, e os concorrentes só serão anunciados oficialmente dia 3 de fevereiro.
Recordamos que a votação da segunda ronda dos BAFTA 2022 ficará aberta entre os dias 14 e 27 de janeiro. As nomeações serão anunciadas a 3 de fevereiro. A terceira ronda para determinar os vencedores acontecerá entre 9 de fevereiro e 8 de março.
Entre os principais destaques anunciados após a primeira rodada de votos estão: o musical “West Side Story”, do estadunidense Steven Spielberg, o drama de época “Belfast”, do irlandês Kenneth Branagh e o filme de ação “007 — Sem tempo para morrer”, do estadunidense Cary Joji Fukunaga. 
Um dos filmes mais comentados foi “Homem-Aranha: Sem Volta a Casa”, de Jon Watts, mas, de acordo com o BAFTA, o filme não cumpre todos os critérios de elegibilidade, portanto não foi pré-indicado para nenhuma categoria. O filme seria originalmente indicado para as categorias de melhor filme e melhores efeitos especiais. A Sony não se pronunciou sobre o assunto.
Nesta sexta-feira (14), a atriz e comediante australiana Rebel Wilson foi confirmada como a apresentadora da 75.ª cerimónia dos BAFTA – Após ter causado sensação com as suas prestações ao apresentar prémios em 2016 e 2020. Os próprios organizadores da premiação britânica revelaram a novidade, por meio de suas redes sociais.
“Passei recentemente por uma transformação gigantesca, portanto espero que a J. K. Rowling aprove que eu seja a anfitriã dos BAFTA 2022“, confirmou a atriz australiana após o anúncio mais formal da Academia Britânica de Cinema e Televisão, numa referência às polémicas à volta da escritora britânica acusada de transfobia.
Os ganhadores serão anunciados dia 13 de março, no Royal Albert Hall, em Londres, na Inglaterra. Lembramos que o 27º Critics Choice Awards acontece na mesmíssima data. Anteriormente, o evento seria realizado em 9 de janeiro. Com o calendário apertado na temporada de premiações, o evento vai acontecer no mesmo dia do BAFTA Awards e duas semanas antes do Óscar.
Em entrevista ao Deadline, um porta-voz do BAFTA comentou o ocorrido: “Estamos cientes da mudança de data do Critics Choice Awards 2022 e entendemos as circunstâncias sem precedentes que levaram à decisão deste ano. Não há mudanças em nossos planos atuais para um evento presencial para o EE British Academy Film Awards em 13 de março e estamos ansiosos para receber todos no Royal Albert Hall de Londres para um evento seguro e memorável.”
Nas indicações cinematográficas ao Critics Choice Awards 2022, “Belfast”, de Kenneth Branagh, e “West Side Story”, de Steven Spielberg, são os grandes destaques deste ano. Ambos disputam em 11 categorias.
