Como é habitual os críticos de LA surpreenderam nas suas escolhas, como na atribuição do prémio de Melhor Atriz à sul-coreana Yung Jung-hee, por “Poetry” e na atribuição do prémio de Melhor Argumento ao iraniano Asghar Farhadi por “A Separation”. O filme “The Tree Of Life” arrecadou três prémios, incluindo o de Melhor Realizador (Terrence Malick).
