A revista Sight & Sound revelou a sua lista dos melhores filmes do ano, votada por 164 críticos e curadores. Para a revista britânica o melhor filme de 2018 foi “Roma”, de Alfonso Cuarón, com 38 votos. O segundo mais votado foi “Linha Fantasma”, de Paul Thomas Anderson, seguido por “Burning”, de Lee Chang-dong, e “Cold War – Guerra Fria”, de Pawel Pawlikowski.
O vencedor da Palma de Ouro de Cannes 2018, “Shoplifters: Uma Família de Pequenos Ladrões”, de Hirokazu Koreeda, ficou em 14.º lugar, juntamente com “O Outro Lado do Vento”, de Orson Welles, e “Shirkers”, de Sandi Tan.
