“Zero Dark Thirty”, de Kathryn Bigelow, volta a triunfar, depois de ter recebido três prémios nos New York Film Critics Circle Awards 2012, ao receber novamente três prémios (Melhor Filme, Realizador e Atriz) pela National Board of Review 2012, que é um dos mais prestigiados prémios cinematográficos americano e um dos mais importantes indicadores para os Óscares. Rian Johnson recebeu o prémio de Melhor Argumento Original por “Looper” e “Amour” recebeu o de Melhor Filme Estrangeiro.
